WASTE MANAGEMENT:

Waste Handling and Recycling

We hold a waste carrier’s licence issued by Lincolnshire County Council and operate our waste recycling and transfer station, which is licensed by the Environment Agency, at our premises in Horncastle where we can accommodate a wide range of waste types that include scrap cars and asbestos.

When a skip comes into the yard we sort the contents by hand and recycle as much of it as we can into various materials: wood, paper, cardboard, glass, metal, food waste and clothing. It is then transported to specialist merchants or industrial units for further processing or onward sale. The remaining waste is also transported to licensed disposal sites whilst the soil, brick and concrete goes through a trommel which separates the material into its constituent sizes. If it’s good enough the soil will be used for both landscaping or agricultural uses and the remaining rubble/concrete goes through a crusher to be used for hardcore.

Asbestos removal

Asbestos is the name given to a group of naturally occurring fibrous minerals. As has been widely publicised, the use of asbestos is now very restricted, but it was previously used in many building products, domestic appliances and household goods because of its strength and
heat-resisting properties. Asbestos materials must be removed and disposed of in accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 and the Environment Agency.

A Riddel Skip Hire offers an asbestos waste collection service that complies with these regulations, which means that all of your responsibilities are taken care of.
